The Barrel House

In early 2016, RSA was interviewed and hired by the owner and restaurant design consultant to provide full design services for an 8,500 square foot restaurant, bar, and casino located in the growing southeast corner of Sioux Falls.  The owner’s vision was to create a unique dining experience designed to attract a wide variety of people in the underserved area of the city.  The restaurant was designed as an homage to the whiskey industry.  Exposed finished wood elements on the interior, patio space, and exterior were added as a nod to the barrels used to age whiskey.  As you enter the building, an impressive collection of Bourbon and other types of spirits greet you.  In addition, barrel tops from makers all over the world decorate the ceiling of the dining area.  The patio portion was designed to be used year-round.  Translucent overhead doors can be closed to keep the space warm, and open up during warmer weather to access the outdoor space.
