RSA specializes in Architecture, Planning, and Interior Design.  We focus on the following markets:  Office, Retail, Industrial, Hospitality, Healthcare, Civic, Religious, Education, Senior Living, Residential, and Historic Preservation.

Our design team focuses on sustainable design strategies throughout all of our market sectors. RSA is registered in states throughout the US.

LEED Certification

LEED professional credentials distinguish building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED certification process. LEED AP's and LEED Green Associates have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED rating systems. Achieving LEED Certification is a significant accomplishment, and sharing our success encourages others to follow our lead. Presently, RSArchitects employs one LEED AP, Keith Neuharth.

RSA proudly supports: Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, Sioux Falls Development Foundation, Forward Sioux Falls, Downtown Sioux Falls, Feeding South Dakota, Sioux Empire United Way, Junior Achievement of South Dakota, Operation RSArchitects, Northern Plains Indian Art Market, Rebuilding South Sudan through Education, and a number of other community organizations.

Quality Control

Quality control is a high priority for our team. We conduct regular round-table review sessions with our A/E team at each phase of the project to ensure both the design and technical aspects of the project are achieved to the highest degree.

Specialized Equipment and Procedures

Our team utilizes the most current architectural software applications, including the latest in BIM (Building Informational Modeling). Our staff supports both AutoCAD and Revit, along with several other current rendering applications to help you tell your story.

Operation RSA

Operation RSA is a quarterly event that engages our staff in team building exercises while participating in a variety of volunteer opportunities in our community. Our mission is to pitch in, work hard, and feel good. Missions Competed: Media One Fun Ski Snow Sculpture Contest, Brush up Sioux Falls, South Dakota Achieve Pancake Feed, Rake the Town, Rebuilding South Sudan Through Education walk-a-thons, Habitat for Humanity, Furniture Mission, Faith Temple Church – Food Give Away, Festival of Books, JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, Feeding South Dakota Backpack Program, Multi-Cultural Center – Ethnic Youth Day, The Banquet, The Girl Scouts BIG Event.

Art For Architecture

RSA has implemented a new initiative that promotes the talents of local and regional artists and complements the art in architecture. Through a collaborative effort between RSA, the artist, and the owner the artist has the opportunity to promote his or her work through the built environment.

Meet the Team

Keith Neuharth

AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C

Principal Architect & Vice President of Operations

Keith Neuharth earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from North Dakota State University after studying Business Administration at Bismarck State College. Keith has over thirty-five years of experience in architectural design, and has been with RSA for over twenty-five years of that time. Keith keeps RSA up to date on laws and policies that affect the architecture industry. He is the office go-to person on building code questions. Keith’s knowledge helps RSA meet our clients’ wants, needs, and desires, and protect the health, safety, and welfare of building occupants. Keith has helped lead the South Dakota chapter of the AIA, serving as Treasurer, Vice President, and President. He was a graduate of the Leadership Sioux Falls Class of 2008, a Member of the Downtown Sioux Falls Design Assistance Committee, and was heavily involved in the Rapid City Mid-Day Jaycees in the early part of his career. Keith is registered in five states (South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Oregon), and maintains registration with the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, and continues his education to stay abreast of the LEED AP BD+C practices of the US Green Building Council.

Justin Oleson

AIA, NCARB

Architect & Vice President of Talent and Technology

Justin joined RSA in May of 2006, after graduating from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Architecture degree and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design degree, and brings 17 years of architectural experience to his work. As a project manager, Justin is in charge of all aspects of architectural services from pre-planning through construction administration. He has worked with clients on many different facility types including: healthcare, judicial, recreational, industrial, educational, religious, and corporate among others. Justin was born and raised in Watertown, SD, and spent many hours on his grandfather’s dairy, beef, and grain operation, and to this day enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. Justin attributes growing up in a small community to his desire for creating lasting relationships with the people he works with. Justin is serving as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the South Dakota chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

Tammy Bashore

Director of Interior Design

With over 20 years of experience, combined professional and teaching in higher-education, Tammy believes the best design solutions are a product of her creative and human-centered approach to design. A passionate advocate for design education, she continues to serve as a Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) Site Visitor. Tammy holds both a Bachelor of Science in Design and Master of Science in Architecture from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Mitch Schlingman

Architectural Designer

Mitch Schlingman joined RSA full-time in May of 2022.  He’s no stranger to our office, though, as he completed a summer internship with RSA prior to his last year at South Dakota State University.  Mitch earned his Masters in Architecture and is on the road to licensure.  An avid golfer, Mitch worked at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club in Yankton, SD, where he grew up.  During college, he expanded his work experience as a Project Manager at Daktronics, and completed two architectural summer internships.  Mitch was a member of the American Institute of Architecture Students while obtaining his degree at SDSU, and is now an associate member of the AIA.

With a passion for interior design, Mikayla Brown is driven to create and develop functional spaces that are tailored to each individual client and project without sacrificing style. With degrees in interior and graphic design, along with a background in commercial furniture, Mikayla has an eye for detail while maintaining a seamless design solution from the inside out.

Atalie Swanson

Architectural Drafter

Atalie Swanson earned her Architectural Engineering Technology degree from Southeast Technical College. She joined RSA in August of 2020, and provides drafting support for RSA’s projects. Atalie has a keen eye for the details and creates drawings that are precise and accurate. Prior to joining RSA, Atalie spent the previous 5 years drafting shop drawings for a cabinet maker. In addition to drafting, she has experience with production layouts, bidding schedules and addendums, and estimating.

Stacey Jans

Administrative Assistant

Stacey Jans grew up in Luverne, Minnesota, and attended Augustana University, where she earned a Business Administration degree. She joined RSA in September 2019. Stacey is the friendly face and voice, who greets our clients in person and over the phone. In addition to providing support for the firm through her organizational skills and computer proficiency, Stacey is continually boosting company culture by planning team-building activities, volunteering opportunities, and ways to recognize individual staff members. Stacey brightens up the office with her unwavering cheery disposition and is always seeking ways to help take care of our clients.
